NEW TRUCK NOW FULLY FUNDED!

In mid-September, we suffered the unexpected loss of "Grandpa Bear," a 24-foot food-delivery truck that was the oldest and largest in our fleet. This critical piece of equipment picked up food from local food banks, transported pantry bags to our West Boca and Boynton Beach locations, and delivered food to elementary schools for our BHH Backpacks Program.

The community and media quickly came to our aid. Thanks to their help and the strong support of Boca Helping Hands’ longtime friends, volunteers and clients, we were able to raise over $150,000 to fund a brand-new 24’ refrigerated truck. Major contributors included The Sun Capital Partners Foundation, Boca West Children’s Foundation, Eric and Loren Stein, Stoops Family Foundation, the Gary Peters Family Foundation and Charles and Robin Deyo. But every gift helped get us to our goal, with donations as small as $5 and 68 contributions of $100 or less.

“We are simply astounded and so grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from the community,” said Greg Hazle, Boca Helping Hands Executive Director. “Even a couple of our clients pitched in after seeing our story on TV, giving us what they could to help and wishing they could give more. This new truck will enable us to fulfill and expand our efforts to feed families in need and will serve us well.”

Our sincerest thanks to each individual, organization and foundation that helped make this new acquisition possible. Your generosity ensures that Boca Helping Hands will be able to continue distributing over 2 million pounds of food annually to the community we serve.
