A Letter from Our Executive Director, Greg Hazle (Re: Monopoly and Corona Virus)

Mar-18-2020

Dear Friends,

We hope you are staying safe and following all the official recommendations for keeping our community safe.

Regarding our MONOPOLY Event & Casino Night: In light of the CDC’s recommendation to cancel large in-person events, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the MONOPOLY Event that was scheduled for April 18, 2020. In place of this year’s fundraising event, we are currently planning a “non-event,” which will provide an alternative way to support our operations and mission. As one of the largest community service agencies in Palm Beach County, Boca Helping Hands is being asked to maintain its critical services and provide additional support as part of a coordinated response to the ongoing crisis. Our community needs your support now more than ever.

As we’ve already shared, Boca Helping Hands has taken immediate steps to protect the safety of our staff, volunteers, and clients during the current situation. We’re now making both packaged hot meals and our pantry bags available only via pick-up or drive-thru service and will be screening potential emergency assistance recipients by phone and email. This allows us to continue providing critical services while limiting unnecessary contact.

While no one knows exactly what the immediate future holds, we’re working closely with our community partners - like the United Way of Palm Beach County’s Hunger Task Force - so that we can continue to aid our clients and the community in the midst of the current crisis. Please go to our website for more information: BocaHelpingHands.org/Covid-19.

We thank you for your support and ask that you contact us with any questions you may have.

Greg Hazle

Executive Director
