Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) Graduate Tammi F. never imagined herself working in the healthcare field - until Boca Helping Hands made it a possibility. Born and raised in Boca, Tammi spent many years traveling and working all over the country but returned when her father fell ill and needed full-time care and support.
She had trouble finding work locally in her field, especially with positions having been cut back during the pandemic. After seeing an online ad for BHH’s Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) program, Tammi initially wrote it off, thinking she couldn’t accommodate the nine months it would take to successfully complete. Tammi applied and was contacted for two positions that eventually fell through.
“Then my father passed away, and I was stuck not knowing what to do,” Tammi said. “The opportunity that BHH presented was truly life saving for me.” She completed the program in November and started work full-time with a company in December.
“This is a really challenging field,” she said. “There’s a lot to learn, but BHH did a really good job preparing me for what was to come.”
Tammi is actively working to sharpen her skills and learn how to better market herself. She enjoys the security of having a job that’s more “pandemic proof” and looks forward to many more years of working in the industry. “I can’t even explain how much I appreciate Boca Helping Hands,” she said. “From first providing the opportunity, to being so encouraging and supportive, it really feels like family now.”
