After being laid off due to the pandemic, Erika A. was at a crossroads in her professional life and anxious about being an unemployed single mother.
Having worked in medical records for nearly ten years, Erika had Medical Billing & Coding as a career in the back of her mind but lacked the time and resources to get her certification. However, with help from BHH's scholarship program, she completed our year-long Medical Billing & Coding course and successfully passed her exam.
Erika has also recently landed a job as a Certified Professional Coder with our healthcare partner Genesis Community Health and is looking forward to re-entering the workforce.
Erika says this program has opened up a new path for her and hopes this year will be a good one. "2020 was a very difficult year for me, and I'm so thankful there are places like Boca Helping Hands for people like me who want a second chance in life," she said.
Supported by The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation and the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, our Medical Billing & Coding program is one of 11 free training programs offered to the community.
