After being laid off due to the pandemic and moving back to South Florida, Joei P. was at a professional crossroads and unsure how to turn her nursing dreams into a reality. Having worked as an EMT, she had a taste of the healthcare field and wanted to dive deeper into the caring profession.

"I've always worked in helping professions, and I'm a helper by nature. I love the science and medical aspect, and that it's a helping profession," she said.

She discovered the BHH Job Training Program online and, taking advantage of what it had to offer, successfully completed her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) coursework and passed the state exams. Joei recently landed a job and looks forward to continuing her education to become a Registered Nurse.

She credits the Job Training Program with helping her launch into the healthcare field. She says, "I wouldn't have been able to afford the CNA program, so with the financial assistance, I'm in a better spot in terms of my future outlook and am generally more positive."

Supported by The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation, our CNA program is one of 11 free training programs offered to the community.
