Now in its 17th year, the organization’s annual Thanksgiving Box Brigade program is expected to provide Thanksgiving meals to nearly 3,000 families, up from 2,700 last year. The boxes include a turkey and everything else that the recipient needs to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Those in the community who wish to support the program can do so by either donating the cost of a box for only $27.15, filling a box on their own, or volunteering to help with the distribution.
“We are so grateful to the community each year for their food drives and Thanksgiving box donations,” Executive Director Greg Hazle shared in a press release about the initiative. “Their generosity means that people who would not otherwise be able to sit down for a holiday meal can enjoy one with their family.”
Local home security company ADT will once again provide financial support and volunteers to assist with the program, and other supporters include Robert and Anita Kriensky, Phoenix Tower International, AvalonBay Communities, the Boca Raton Airport Authority and the Town of Palm Beach United Way.
The boxes will be distributed at drive-thru locations in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Lake Worth on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
