Each year, the Florence Fuller Child Development Center recognizes men in our community who have devoted themselves to service and philanthropy. Charities throughout Boca Raton and beyond nominate worthy candidates who are honored at the Men with Caring Hearts annual luncheon. From these worthy nominees, a committee has the unenviable task of selecting ONE to honor as the Awardee.

Each year, the list of nominees is indeed impressive. Board Members, volunteers, mentors and guides from and practically every charity in town are placed in nomination. This year, Boca Helping Hands nominated Mr. Gary Peters. Gary’s commitment to Boca Helping Hands is well documented. His devotion to serving those in need is dwarfed only by his generosity and his heart.

At last Thursday’s 11th Annual Men With Caring Hearts Luncheon, 25 local charities, including Boys and Girls Clubs, Caridad, the Boca West Foundation, YMCA of South Palm Beach County, Florence Fuller, Boca Raton Regional Hospital and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce among others, put forward nominees. The list reads like a “Who’s Who” of philanthropic work in South Palm Beach County. We at Boca Helping Hands express our deep appreciation to Gary for all he has done and continues to do for our agency. And we take special pride that the rest of our community is finally recognizing what we have known all along: Gary Peters is a true community servant and role model. Congratulations Gary!
