Boca Raton 16-year-old Maya Blatt, founder of “Beads Can Feed,” Makes Contribution to Boca Helping Hands

Boca Helping Hands' Annual Matching Campaign has just received a donation from Saint Andrews School sophomore Maya Blatt, class of ’23, and her mother Renée. The Blatts founded Beads Can Feed in May of this year, with 100 percent of proceeds going to three charities: Boca Helping Hands, No Kid Hungry and the World Central Kitchen. They have raised more than $18,000 so far, and they recently donated $7,250 to Boca Helping Hands, which was doubled by their end-of-the-year matching campaign.

In trying to address global hunger in a meaningful fashion, Maya and her mother created their own line of high-end, Czech-glass beaded bracelets and necklaces over the summer, selling them both online and in a pop-up shop.

While the business began during summer break, Beads Can Feed is far from a summer fling. Maya continues to craft and create even as the school year moves forward and has recently launched a collection of beaded jewelry for the fall.
