Since the first distribution in Delray Beach over five months ago, Cheryl Perry has been an integral part of the team. After retiring from a career as a Disabilities Specialist, Cheryl Perry relocated from New York to Delray Beach with her husband. She found herself with more time on her hands and felt compelled to give back.
In October, Cheryl answered a call for volunteers from a local news broadcast and was at the first Delray Beach pantry bag distribution helping to load bags into client cars. Since then, she's held various volunteer roles, but now, you'll typically find her registering new clients for the program.
She's adamant that volunteering gives you a different perspective and allows you to know your community better. Especially as a relatively new resident, this experience has allowed her to serve as a resource while learning more about Delray Beach and her neighbors.
"Volunteering with Boca Helping Hands has allowed me to put into action something that I've wanted to do for many years," she said.
