After completing the year-long drafting program offered through Boca Helping Hands’ partnership with Atlantic Technical College, Robin F. embarked on an exciting new chapter in his career.
As of this September, he has been working full-time for Kamm Consulting for a year, building on the experience he gained during his part-time role while still in school. In his position, Robin has become the go-to expert for heat load calculations, using the Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) to design HVAC systems for a range of commercial and residential projects. He also performs crucial energy calculations to ensure projects meet building energy code compliance. When a project doesn't pass, he collaborates with architects to make necessary adjustments, such as modifying lighting wattage per square foot, to meet code requirements.
“I’ve grown so much in the past year,” Robin said. “I’m so thankful for Boca Helping Hands putting me in this position.” Robin works closely with mechanical designers and project managers that mentor him and provide crucial insight.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robin was also proud to share that he placed 5th in Technical Drafting at the 2023 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. Being involved with the highest-skilled students in the nation was an incredible experience for him. Boca Helping Hands opened the door to an expansive career for Robin, he credits the Job Training Program for offering an opportunity that changed his life.
Looking ahead, Robin plans to pursue college courses part-time to work towards a degree in mechanical engineering. With positive feedback on his performance, Robin is enthusiastic about the future and eager to see where his hard work and passion will take him.
