For the past seven years, Jevon worked as a driver for a mental health and recovery center, where he transported patients from all over South Florida. Having been exposed to the transportation industry through his relatives, friends, and online trucking influencers, he was inspired to get his Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
With inflation driving prices up, he realized he needed to make a change to make a sustainable living. "I was comfortable in my daily routine, but what I was making wasn't cutting it anymore, and I really want a career. I want to support my family."
After earning his CDL through BHH's Job Training Program, Jevon recently landed a job with a private carrier and will be traveling throughout the country. He hopes to gain experience behind the wheel, with the long-term goal of owning his own trucking business. Jevon credits BHH with helping him take the necessary first steps to move in that direction.
