Volunteer Spotlight: Jack C.

December 21, 2021

Last spring, during the height of the pandemic, Jack found himself with extra time on his hands and felt compelled to give back.

He heard of Boca Helping Hands through a friend and started volunteering as a recovery driver, helping to pick up food donations from local restaurants and grocery stores.

After a few months, he transitioned to making deliveries to local schools participating in our BHH Backpacks program, which provides students with a box filled with six meals and three snacks each Friday.

Having been an assistant principal with an extensive 35-year career with the School District of Palm Beach County, he is especially drawn to helping kids.

"It's rewarding; this is my community, and volunteering is the right thing to do," says Jack.

Jack also credits his wife – a nurse – with inspiring him to do his part, as he’s witnessed her commitment to helping others throughout the pandemic.

Dr. Cromwell, Principal at Citrus Cove Elementary School (pictured), extends her gratitude for Jack's service and says, "We are so fortunate to have volunteers like Mr. Jack Clutter, a retired school district administrator, who drives and delivers food boxes to schools around the community."
