Volunteer Spotlight: Jerry I.

Jerry has been a volunteer at our Boynton Beach food distribution location since it opened in 2017.

Jerry has been involved with multiple nonprofits and was on the board of a food bank in Detroit. So when he saw an article about BHH in the Sun Sentinel, he called us to get involved.

Being retired, he wants to remain active and donate his time. He says, "I feel my life has been very rewarding. I have time on my hands and a need to give back."

Twice a week, he helps our drivers unload the truck and assists in loading pantry bags into our client's cars. Jerry says, "There's no question of the camaraderie amongst the volunteers."

He mentioned there's a great sense of satisfaction in helping the community. He says, "When you see those cars wrapped around the parking lot and you see how great the need is, that's what keeps you going."

Up until recently, he was a snowbird, but now we're so grateful to have him part of our volunteer team year-round!
